Kitchen electrical appliances are one of the most used products in households, and therefore the safety, quality, and performance of these products must be up to the mark. To ensure the same, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued a set of regulations to be followed by the manufacturers of kitchen appliances. Under scheme ii of BIS, it is mandatory to certify certain kitchen appliances such as electric kettles, ovens, grills, toasters, etc. The BIS/ISI mark certification is provided for these products to ensure their quality, and safety for household use.
Let us understand the meaning, importance, and process of BIS certification for kitchen appliances in depth.
What is ISI Mark Certification?
The Bureau of Indian Standards is the regulatory body to ensure the efficiency and performance of various products including kitchen electrical appliances. According to the regulations of BIS, manufacturers are required to take the ISI mark certification for kitchen electrical appliances to regulate their products in the market. Adhering to the regulations and acquiring the certificate makes the products safe for use, builds confidence in the customers, and enhances brand reputation. The BIS provides the ISI mark label for the kitchen appliances that proves that the product has been tested and passes the quality and performance standards.
