Parquetry is wood cut into geometrical design, sometimes called inlaid floors. They are ornate and decorative. The floors were traditionally 5/16" thick. Solid hardwood floors are typically nailed down to a wooden subfloor on or above grade. Engineered hardwood products may be fastened, stapled, or glued on, above, or below grade. Top-nailed floors are making a come-back and are very much in vogue.
